Calling all Volunteers for the 2012 Annual Lake Houston Trash Bash

With a resounding "Clean it Like You Mean It", each year in March, thousands of volunteers fan out along local waterways from Lake Conroe to the Texas City Dike, from Lake Houston to White Oak Bayou, as part of the annual River, Lakes, Bays n' Bayous Trash Bash.

The 19th annual Lake Houston Trash Bash, Saturday, March 31, 2012, 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. is one of the original clean-up sites.  Activities for the event will originate at the Lake Houston Marina (10611 F.M. 1960 East at McKay Bridge, (Key-Map 338-Q), Huffman, Texas 77386.  Volunteers will get safety equipment, assignments and the first 500 persons to register on site will receive a free Trash Bash t-shirt. Scouts are also given patches to commemorate their participation. Free parking and free lunch will be provided for all participants.

This is one of 17 sites in the Houston area designated for clean-up. Group leaders can download registration forms for groups at http://www.trashbash.org/. Since 1994, the Trash Bash has attracted over 60,000 volunteers who have collected almost 2,000 tons of trash. Governmental and municipal organizations, schools, environmental, regulatory and youth organizations traditionally assist in restoring our water and removing trash from our waterways. The Trash Bash is a great family outing that provides an outstanding environmental educational learning experience for the kids.
