HISD Trustee District IV Candidate Forum

Wednesday, October 14, 2015
7 PM

Red Elementary
4520 Tonawanda Dr, Houston, TX 77035

You can impact your child’s education by VOTING in the school board election on November 3rd (you will vote for the candidate in the district where you live – not the district where your child goes to school). Trustee Paula Harris is not seeking re-election to the HISD Board of Education. Four candidates are vying for the position. Come out to the candidate forum to hear what changes they would like to make to HISD. Ask your questions (which may be submitted ahead of time to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). Hear about their qualifications. Find out what qualities they’ll look for in a new superintendent. Learn what you need to know to make an informed voting decision. THEN, go out and vote. Your VOTE makes a difference.

Why your informed vote is important:

  1. The new trustee will help pick the new superintendent – setting the stage for all types of discussions and debate including the future of magnet programs and funding.
  2. The new trustee could vote on whether to raise your taxes.
  3. The new trustee will oversee how bond money is spent.
  4. The new trustee will have a say in key items like teacher evaluations.

NOTE: Your HISD trustee ballot is determined by where you live, not by which school a student attends. To see what this means for you, please refer to the Board Districts map.
