Security Donations and Officer Holiday Fund

With the new procedures that will be in place involving the receiving of Security Donations and the Officer Holiday Fund, Willow Meadows Civic Club Board wants to make sure all residents have clear information on how those donations will be received and processed.

  1. Make Donations Separately – When you write out your donations on your money order or check, please make sure you write which Item the donation is for. If you are sending a donation for both items they will need to be on separate checks or money orders and not with your assessment payments.
  2. Labeling - If you are contributing to the General Fund please note the memo as General Fund. If you are donating to the Holiday Fund, please note the memo as Holiday Fund.
  3. Location - Please send all General Fund and Holiday Fund Donations directly to PMG's office made payable to Willow Meadows Civic Club ATTN: Deanne Cox, 11000 Corporate Centre #150, Houston, TX 77041.

Recovery, Relocation, and Alluvial Awareness in Post-Harvey Houston

Rice University’s Center for Energy & Environmental Research in the Human Sciences (CENHS) and Department of Anthropology is conducting research to find out, via surveys and in-person interviews, how people whose homes were flooded decide to stay or relocate. All of the results from this research will be anonymized, and shared with City of Houston and Harris County officials to help their planning and recovery efforts.

For more information on this project, download this flyer and/or contact Principal Investigator Dominic Boyer or Project Lead Mark Vardy (their email addresses can be found on the flyer).

Recycling to Continue but Glass no Longer Accepted

The City of Houston and Waste Management have reached tentative agreement on a new 2-year contract that will allow the city to continue offering recycling services without any disruption. The only change in service that Houstonians will notice is the elimination of glass from the list of items that are acceptable for placement in the green curbside single-stream recycling bins.  Glass, currently has no value on the commodities market, breaks down during collection and transportation and is unduly destructive to the processing equipment.

Residents will still have the option of dropping off glass for recycling at the City's neighborhood depositories.

Senior Citizen Rate Freeze Form

To apply for a rate freeze, download/print/mail this hardcopy form.

Houston's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program, part of the Mayor's Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security, "trains ordinary citizens in how to help themselves and their neighbors in the event of disasters.  In addition, because of the training that CERT volunteers undergo, they are often called upon to assist in organizing disaster response as well." (from the Houston CERT Program web site)
